CAPAC Celebrates Holi, the Hindu Festival of Colors
Washington, DC – Today, Members of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) released the following statements to mark the Hindu festival of Holi. Also known as the Festival of Colors, Holi marks the beginning of Spring and is celebrated by people across the world.
Congresswoman Judy Chu (CA-27), CAPAC Chair: “Today, people across America and around the world celebrate Holi, the Festival of Colors, marking the beginning of Spring. Traditions like Holi add to the diverse and prosperous fabric of our nation, and I wish all those celebrating a very Happy Holi full of colors and a Spring full of prosperity!”
Congressman Mike Honda (CA-17), CAPAC Chair Emeritus: “Holi is a communal celebration of renewal and rejuvenation. On this day in Spring, the gloom of winter is tossed aside and communal bonds are strengthened and wrapped in color. Alongside the millions of Hindus around the world, including those in my home district of California’s 17th district, I am honored to join in today’s Festival of Colors. In addition, as Chair Emeritus of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, I am proud to have worked to bring awareness to this important holiday and the many issues important to the Hindu-American community in our nation. As this holiday seeks new beginnings and the strengthening of bonds, I recommit to furthering my understanding of the great diversity in my District.”
