CAPAC Chair, Antisemitism Task Force Co-Chair Joint Statement on Congressional Hearing Featuring Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

July 20, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) Chair Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28) and the House Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Antisemitism Co-Chair Rep. Kathy Manning (NC-06) issued the following statement regarding the decision of the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government to follow through with its invitation for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to testify:

“The appearance of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. before a congressional hearing today denigrates this institution. More importantly, the decision to provide him a platform further amplifies and legitimizes his vile antisemitic and anti-Asian conspiracy theories—thereby endangering Jewish Americans and Asian Americans nationwide. The so-called Weaponization committee’s hearing today is yet another disgraceful example of Republicans putting politics over people’s safety and well-being.”

On Tuesday, Chair Chu, along with Weaponization Subcommittee members Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schulz (FL-25) and Dan Goldman (NY-10), led over 100 of their Democratic colleagues to write to Speaker Kevin McCarthy and Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan urging the withdrawal of the invitation to Kennedy. Co-Chair Manning provided organizing support for the letter.
