CAPAC Chair Celebrates the Confirmation of Anne Hwang and Sparkle Sooknanan

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Last week, the U.S. Senate confirmed Anne Hwang as U.S. District Judge for the Central District of California and Sparkle Sooknanan as U.S. District Judge for the District of Columbia.

Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) Chair Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28) issued the following statement:

Sparkle Sooknanan, who currently serves as principal deputy assistant attorney general in the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice, brings tremendous expertise and an unwavering commitment to equal justice. Anne Hwang, with years of experience as a public defender and judge of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, brings an invaluable dedication to public service. Both women will be indispensable additions to our justice system.
