CAPAC Chair Comments on Funding for DHS Through FY 2015

March 3, 2015

Washington, D.C. – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to pass a clean bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security through the remainder of the fiscal year. This follows a vote on Friday, February 27th to avert a DHS shutdown by extending funding for one week. CAPAC Chair Rep. Judy Chu (CA-27) released the following statement:

“I am so pleased we finally voted to fund the Department of Homeland Security through September. I was disappointed last December when this crucial agency was intentionally singled out to deliver a political message on the President’s immigration actions. Fortunately, the worst has been avoided and workers at our nation’s top civilian security agency can continue their work with confidence and stability. From this, I hope a lesson has been learned to put America’s national security ahead of scoring political points. We must get back to the work of governing, as we were elected to do.”
