CAPAC Chair on Meeting with Associate Attorney General Gupta

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Department of Justice (DOJ) Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta met with the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) to provide updates on the implementation of the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act and Jabara-Heyer NO HATE Act grants, and additional DOJ efforts to combat hate crimes.

CAPAC Chair Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28) released the following statement following the meeting:

“I want to thank Associate Attorney General Gupta for meeting with members of CAPAC today to update the Caucus on the implementation of the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act and the Department's additional work to address hate crimes. As we have seen throughout the pandemic, anti-Asian hate violence and xenophobia continue to threaten our communities nationwide, and it’s essential that federal law enforcement is a strong partner in deterring these crimes, responding to and tracking them when they occur, and securing support for victims.
