CAPAC Congratulates Congressman Xavier Becerra on Winning the APAICS Lifetime Achievement Award
Washington, DC – Today the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) will honor Congressman Xavier Becerra with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 22nd Annual Gala Awards Dinner. Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) Chair Congresswoman Judy Chu and CAPAC Executive Board Member Congressman Becerra released the following statements:
Congresswoman Judy Chu (CA-27), CAPAC Chair:
“Congressman Xavier Becerra is a champion for the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities. As a representative of a significant AAPI population in Los Angeles, he has actively participated and led efforts to ensure that our government is inclusive and hears the concerns of AAPIs. As Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, he has been and continues to be a voice for our community on the pivotal issue of immigration reform. I am proud to work with Xavier as an Executive Board Member of CAPAC and on behalf of Southern California and look forward to continue working with him to fight for policies to provide a better future for AAPIs and all Americans.”
Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-34), Chair of the House Democratic Caucus:
"At a time when some would ignore the importance of America's rich and diverse heritage, we must recognize it as a key to our country's strength and prosperity. When you walk in my district, home to Los Angeles’ Chinatown, Koreatown, Historic Filipinotown, Little Bangladesh, or Little Tokyo, it's easy to see how these communities have helped build America. I’m working hard to honor the generations of Asian American and Pacific Islanders whose dreams, sacrifice, and success make us a great nation."
