CAPAC Welcomes Rep. Tom Suozzi as New Associate Member
WASHINGTON, D.C.— The Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) welcomes Rep. Tom Suozzi (NY-03) as a newly confirmed Associate Member for the 118th Congress, bringing the total membership of the Caucus to 77 Members of the U.S. House and Senate.
CAPAC Chair Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28) and Rep. Suozzi issued the following statements:
CAPAC Chair Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28):
“I am thrilled to welcome Congressman Suozzi back to CAPAC as an Associate Member of our caucus! Congressman Suozzi has been a strong champion for the vibrant and numerous Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities of New York’s third congressional district. Congressman Suozzi’s commitment to our communities will once again be an important asset to our caucus. From speaking out against anti-Asian hate and pushing back on xenophobic anti-China rhetoric to increasing language access and data equity and protecting the civil rights of our communities, CAPAC will continue to ensure that the wide range of AANHPI issues and voices are uplifted in Congress. Congressman Suozzi is a key ally in our work to elevate AANHPI visibility and ensure that the needs and concerns of our communities are met, and I am grateful for his support. I look forward to collaborating with him to continue championing our shared priorities.”
Rep. Tom Suozzi (NY-03):
“Chinese, Korean, Indian, Pakistani, and other Asian and South Asian Americans are an important and growing part of my Congressional district. I see my family’s immigrant story—my father was born in Italy—in each of them. A commitment to hard work, education, family, and deep-rooted values are what have ensured their continued success and their significant contribution to our country. I am honored and excited to join my colleagues in CAPAC as we seek ways to better represent our Asian and South Asian constituents.”
