CAPAC Condemns Republican Budget that Slashes Medicaid to Pay for Tax Breaks for Billionaires

February 26, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C - The Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) issued a statement today following the House passage of Republicans’ budget proposal.

“Budgets are reflections of our priorities, and House Republicans made clear last night that their priority is to their billionaire donors, not to hard working Americans.

“The Republican budget proposal guts Medicaid, which provides healthcare for 4.5 million Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders. The budget also strips funding for public schools, cuts food assistance for kids and seniors, and undermines benefits for veterans in order to pay for tax breaks for billionaires.

“This tax giveaway is a betrayal of the American people. While Congressional Republicans have failed to put forth a plan that will lower costs, CAPAC will continue to fight for policies that will grow the middle class and protect programs that our communities depend on.”
