CAPAC Members and House Democratic Leader Commemorate the Start of Ramadan
WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, Members of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) released the following statements to mark the month of Ramadan, which began last evening at sunset. Ramadan is the holiest month of the Islamic calendar for Muslims, who spend their days fasting from sunrise to sunset, giving charity, and engaging in worship and reflection.
CAPAC Chair Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28):
“Ramadan Mubarak to the millions of Muslims around the world who will observe this holy month with prayer, faith, and charity. For many, this is a time of self-reflection and gatherings to cultivate bonds with family and community. May this Ramadan bring peace and community for all, and may our AANHPI communities, united across diverse traditions, be reminded of our strength in supporting one another.”
House Democratic Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08):
“Ramadan Mubarak to the Muslim community in New York City and around the world. As we begin the holy month, I’m wishing everyone observing an easy fast and blessed month. May it be a meaningful time of reflection with family and loved ones.”

Rep. Pramila Jayapal (WA-07):
“Growing up in Indonesia, I had the honor of witnessing Ramadan as a beautiful tradition for cleansing the body, spirit, and soul. This month serves as a reminder to center ourselves in our place on this earth. And despite the tremendous pain in the Muslim community across our country and the world right now, we have seen the generosity and humanity of the Muslim heart in full display throughout our communities. We will continue to come together to work toward peace and justice for all. I hope that all those celebrating are able to join with family, friends, and their community to renew their faith during this joyous and sacred time of the year. Ramadan Mubarak!”
Rep. Ro Khanna (CA-17):
“I join my CAPAC colleagues in wishing the Muslim community in my district and around the world a blessed Ramadan. This year, I am thinking of the innocent lives in Gaza and the devastating violence that is taking place there. I am praying for a permanent ceasefire and a release of all hostages. Let us hope this time of Ramadan is a time for peace, reflection, and a new beginning.”
Rep. Andy Kim (NJ-03):
