CAPAC Members Commemorate the Start of Ramadan
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Members of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) released the following statements to mark the month of Ramadan, which begins tonight at sunset. Ramadan is the holiest month of the Islamic calendar for Muslims, who spend their days fasting from sunrise to sunset, giving charity, and engaging in worship and reflection.
CAPAC Chair Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28):
“Ramadan Mubarak to the millions of Muslims who are observing across the country and worldwide! Ramadan is a sacred month that includes time spent with family, prayer, and giving. Such practices reflect the foundational values that Muslims live by every day, and can also be found across many other faiths and cultures. These shared values serve as a reminder that while we are a proudly diverse nation, we also have much in common to connect us and make us stronger together. I hope this holy month of spiritual reflection brings peace, wisdom, and community to all who practice.”
CAPAC First Vice-Chair Rep. Grace Meng (NY-06):
“Happy Ramadan to the many Muslims in my district and millions around the world who are celebrating! Ramadan is the most sacred month in Islamic culture—a time for faith, prayer, reflection, and generosity. Many celebrate Ramadan by strengthening their connections with their communities and reaching out to those in need. These celebrations remind us that regardless of our diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, we can all unite around the shared values of investing in our communities and giving back. Ramadan Mubarak!”
CAPAC Whip Rep. Ted Lieu (CA-36):
“I’m sending warm wishes for good health and peace to the Muslim community in Los Angeles County and those observing Ramadan around the world! Ramadan is a holy month of prayer and reflection that reminds us of the importance of charity and community. I hope all those observing find the strength and spiritual renewal that Ramadan brings. Ramadan Mubarak!”
Rep. Pramila Jayapal (WA-07):
“As Muslims across America begin observing the holy month of Ramadan, let’s remember what this beautiful tradition means for millions around the world. It is the most joyous and sacred time of the year; a time for fasting, prayer, compassion, and reflection. This month serves as a reminder to center ourselves in our place on the earth and as an opportunity to cleanse the body, spirit, and soul. I hope that families and communities can celebrate together and gather for iftar as they renew their faith, and I wish all those observing a blessed holy month of Ramadan. Ramadan Mubarak!”
Rep. Ro Khanna (CA-17):
“Ramadan Mubarak to all those observing in my district and around the world. I hope that this is a time for reflection, spiritual strength, and for peace.”
Rep. Andy Kim (NJ-03):
“Ramadan Mubarak to the Muslim community in New Jersey and across the country. I wish everyone observing the holy month peace and an easy fast as families and friends gather to reflect and celebrate this beautiful holiday of spiritual growth.”
Rep. Marilyn Strickland (WA-10):
“Ramadan Mubarak to the Muslim community throughout the South Sound and across our nation. Ramadan is a celebration of spiritual renewal, family gatherings, charitable activities, and giving thanks. This holy season is a reminder of the power of hope, and I am grateful for the Muslim community's contributions throughout our county.”
Sen. Cory Booker (NJ):
“I want to wish the Muslim community in New Jersey, across the country, and around the world Ramadan Mubarak as we mark the beginning of the holiest month of the Islamic calendar. Millions of Muslims observe Ramadan by fasting, spiritual renewal, and engaging in acts of charity. It is also a time to strengthen bonds with family, friends, and neighbors and strive towards being the best version of themselves. These principles serve as a reminder to all of us that there is more that unites us than divides us. I wish all those who are observing a blessed Ramadan and a month filled with peace, compassion, and time with loved ones.”
Rep. Suzanne Bonamici (OR-01):
“Ramadan Mubarak to all who observe. Ramadan is a time for reflection, gathering with family, and service. I’m glad to join my CAPAC colleagues in wishing Muslim Americans a blessed holy month. I hope those observing in Oregon and across the country have a Ramadan filled with joy and spiritual renewal.”

“Ramadan is a time for our Muslim friends and neighbors to come together as a community, pray, and reflect on the values of gratitude and compassion. May this holy month be filled with spiritual renewal and togetherness. Sending my best wishes to all in Michigan and across the world observing this holy month. Ramadan Mubarak!”
