CAPAC Welcomes Reps. Lori Trahan and Josh Harder as New Associate Members

August 28, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C.The Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) welcomes Rep. Lori Trahan (MA-03) and Rep. Josh Harder (CA-09) as newly confirmed Associate Members for the 118th Congress, bringing the total membership of the Caucus to 79 Members of the U.S. House and Senate.

CAPAC Chair Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28) and Reps. Trahan and Harder issued the following statements:

CAPAC Chair Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28):

“I am delighted to welcome two new House members – Lori Trahan and Josh Harder – to CAPAC! The Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander population accounts for more than 21 million Americans, growing faster than any other racial group in the country, and it is essential that CAPAC remains steadfast in elevating AANHPI visibility and ensuring that the needs and concerns of AANHPI communities are met. From combatting anti-Asian hate to advancing health and education equity through greater language access and disaggregation of race and ethnicity data, I look forward to working with our new CAPAC Members in uplifting a wide range of AANHPI voices in Congress. I know that they will be important assets to the caucus, and I am sincerely grateful for their support for our communities.”

Rep. Lori Trahan (MA-03):

“It’s an honor to represent a strong, vibrant Asian American community in Massachusetts, including one of the largest Cambodian American communities in our nation in my hometown of Lowell. As a member of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, I look forward to working with Chair Chu and our colleagues to make sure Asian American families here in the Third District and across the Commonwealth have their voices heard in Congress.”

Rep. Josh Harder (CA-09):

“I’m proud to represent the most diverse city in the country — Stockton, California. Our community is vibrant and full of rich history and culture. We’re also still reckoning with decades of inequality. I’m grateful to join CAPAC so, together, can make sure all our communities are heard and uplifted.”
