Congresswoman Judy Chu (CA-27), Chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), released the following statement regarding the impact of President Trump’s first one hundred days on the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community:
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Congressional Tri-Caucus – which is composed of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) – sent a letter to Congressional leaders urging them to oppose any efforts that would restrict the President’s authority under the Antiquities Act and that would eliminate or reduce the boundaries of any existing national monument.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, Colorado State Representative Phil Covarrubias defended the incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II while debating a Colorado state bill that would protect state residents from President Trump’s executive orders targeting immigrants, refugees, and Muslims. Covarrubias stated, “we keep hearing about how things went down with the Japanese people.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – On March 12, 2017, Rep. Steve King made comments claiming that we can’t restore Western civilization “with somebody else’s babies.” He later doubled down on his comments and refused to apologize for them, commenting that he wants “to see an America that is just so homogeneous that we look a lot of the same.” He also said, “I predict that the Hispanics and blacks will be fighting each other” before Caucasians become a majority-minority population in America.
