Washington, D.C. – The New York Times reported yesterday that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) issued new rules to require an extra level of oversight when investigating cases of espionage. These new rules come after several high-profile cases in which Chinese American scientists – including Sherry Chen and Dr. Xiaoxing Xi – were wrongfully accused and arrested for alleged espionage only to have those charges later dropped.
Washington, D.C. – Today, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in U.S. v. Texas, the case regarding President Obama’s executive actions to provide temporary relief from deportation for undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children and eligible parents of U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents. The implementation of the President’s expanded Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and the creation of the Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA) program has been halted due to ongoing litigation.

Washington, D.C. – Today, the House of Representatives passed H.Res. 639, a resolution authorizing the Speaker of the House to file an amicus curiae on behalf of the entire House of Representatives in the matter of the United States v. Texas. In January of this year, the Supreme Court agreed to hear oral arguments in U.S. v. Texas, a challenge to the President’s executive actions on immigration known as Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA) and the expanded Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).
