On October 1, the federal government shut down because President Trump and Congressional Republicans would not agree to legislation that kept government open while lowering health care costs. A government shutdown means that millions of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) families may lose access to food assistance, small businesses are struggling without federal loans, and health care services may be suspended all together.
