WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Judy Chu (CA-32), Chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), today issued the following statement on Senate Republicans denying an up or down vote on Goodwin Liu, President Obama’s nominee for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth circuit. By a vote of 52 to 43, with a majority of Senators voting in favor, the Senate was unable to overcome a procedural tactic that requires 60 votes to move forward with Professor Liu’s confirmation process.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Judy Chu (CA-32), Chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), and other Members of CAPAC, today called on the Senate to confirm Professor Goodwin Liu, President Obama’s nominee for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. In order for Liu to receive an up or down confirmation vote on the Senate Floor, he will need to overcome a procedural hurdle requiring 60 “yes” votes.

(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Rep. Judy Chu (CA-32), Chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), today joined members of CAPAC in congratulating Judge Edward Chen on his confirmation, and commending the Senate for finally holding a vote to confirm Chen as U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of California. Chen was confirmed by a vote of 56-42.

Judy Chu (CA-32), Chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), today introduced a resolution recognizing May as Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. The resolution was co-sponsored by 45 additional Members of Congress, including every House Member of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus. WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Members of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) released statements denouncing $88 million in cuts to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Housing Counseling Assistance programs in the 2011 Continuing Resolution. These cuts would zero out funding for various community based housing counseling programs and force many to close down in October of this year.
